It’s the 36th anniversary of the Air Max 87 - a sneaker that was the first of its kind, igniting a revolution for footwear engineering and aesthetics as we know it today. As a collaboration between Nike’s OG designer, Tinker Hatfield, and aeronautical engineer at NASA, Frank Rudy, the defining sole cushion has come to mean something incredibly potent for South Africa; here, we call it ‘the bubble’. Bubblekoppe, get ready. In collaboration with Nike Global and BROKE, we are proud to be hosting the ‘Maxxed Out Tour’; as one of five cities on the planet celebrating and activating this potent moment in sneaker history. It's a big moment for us in Cape Town, and we knew we had to enlist the Broke family to herald in the Maxxed Out Tour, right from the tip of Africa.

We join Paris, Berlin, Milan and Istanbul as five cities launching five iterations of the Air Max ‘87, each through our own cultural and social lens.

We are excited to be dropping the Air Max 1 ‘87 in Premium Corduroy in a full ‘Baltic Blue’ colourway, set atop a ‘Sail’ light midsole with a peek into the iconic bubble window. This launch coincides with a party hosted by Broke, so you can expect to hear family members of the crew such as InsertCoinz and International Pantsula, along with Miss Shelly, DWSON, Athi Maq, and a special guest and friend all the way from Amsterdam; Eben Badu of The New Originals.
