Stockroom / Season Goodbye
All good things require rest - and The Stockroom Show is no different. After an incredible season, we are taking a break for the winter, with the view to return in September / October 2022. The last few months have been incredible; our Lemkus family has grown in leaps and bounds as we welcomed emerging vendors, showcased some incredible creatives for our Obscure Archives exhibit - all while dining on Jack’s Burgers with beats blaring throughout the 2nd and 3rd Floors of our home, the Exchange Building.

Our season finale is taking place this Thursday, 05 May, while we host old and new friends: Influhks, Broke, Hygge, Artclub, Brunch Club, Lazy Stacks, Hopeville Grailz, Flux, Socioculture, Pedestrian, Patrick James, Kazard, Hempt, Illucid, Pastel, Mason The Barber, Save Vintage and U Be You. These talented designers and curators have made Stockroom what it is; a space to connect and celebrate our common interests of streetwear. While it won’t be easy to close our doors for a while, be sure to keep a long out for activations and events that we are cooking up for the colder months.

Obscure Archives has been an evolving exploration of cultural excellence in Cape Town, with our past season featuring Keith Vlahakis’ insane pop cultural artistry, Yaeesh Dollie’s multimedia cultural project and label Daremposh, Naeelah Jumat’s breakout streetwear brand Socioculture and Justin Ronné’s impeccable ode to Air Max through his archive, Bubblekoppe. Our closing edition of OA welcomes photographer and creative Carey Chanquin, who will be showcasing her Gurly Gems exhibition - a dive into her journey as an image-maker through the years and her celebration of the coloured identity; an extension of her esteemed series, Curating Coloureds. Prints and photo books will be for sale - it’s going to be the sweetest note to end on.

We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who has supported us through this launch - it’s given us all behind the scenes a reinvigorated perspective on the journey ahead, especially after two years of social isolation for many of us. These events have impacted us, and we are going to keep pushing to bring our community better and better experiences.
