TRP - TYLA
Cape Town-based rapper TRP’s latest single, Tyla, acts as both a nod to South Africa’s Grammy-winning superstar and a celebration of women who serve as muses in art and life. By naming the track after Tyla, TRP pays homage to her global rise while also spotlighting the influence of women who inspire art, style, and cultural movement.

With muse as the central theme, it was only fitting that a female-led creative team brought the vision to life. Directed by acclaimed multidisciplinary artist Tony Gum (once dubbed “The Coolest Girl in Cape Town” by Vogue), who also stars alongside Khanyisile Qha, and shot and edited by Jessica Leigh Jacobs, the video carries a distinctly female gaze — playful, confident, and powerful.

The narrative follows our muses as they get ready for the night in the penthouse, showcasing sartorial flair with ease before stepping into a drop-top convertible and cruising through Cape Town — with a mandatory stop at Jack’s Burgers. What unfolds is a portrait of women moving through the evening with confidence, sex appeal, and freedom.TRP’s opening line, “Brown skin baby, are we at the Grammy’s?”, sets the tone with his trademark wit and unrivaled cadence. He effortlessly flows over wavy, bouncy production from Keymou, while Nigerian artist Egbon Cass delivers a feature with smooth bravado. Soundtracking our muses as they move through Cape Town like royalty.

Throughout, the Air Max Muse sneaker anchors the visual story. Styled across bold editorial looks - from statement denim to layered streetwear - the Muse is more than product placement. It becomes a symbol of style, innovation, and taste, woven seamlessly into the choreography and cinematography as a tangible representation of the overarching motif.

In Tyla, the Air Max Muse is not just a sneaker, but an embodiment of a way of being.  It represents the same spirit the video celebrates: the confidence to own your story, the freedom to move how you want, and the taste to do it with unmistakable style.

Tyla is the lead single off of TRP’s new mixtape, The Minerals U Need. Released on September 2nd 2025 under NSTLGA. - Music video dropping soon.
